About this project

Godot Aerodynamic Physics is a plugin for the Godot Engine that adds nodes for realistic aerodynamic simulation and control. It is presented as deeply customizable and high performance, and is distributed through the Godot Asset Library. Installation is done by downloading or installing from the Godot Asset Library, then enabling the plugin under Project > Project Settings > Plugins. An advanced installation document is referenced for other setups. Basic usage centers on adding an AeroBody3D node to a scene and attaching one or more AeroInfluencer3D-derived classes as children, then adjusting settings to change the aerodynamic characteristics. The README links to a Getting Started guide and a guide for becoming familiar with the aero nodes. The project lists its development direction as: usability, stability and performance; more AeroInfluencer3D-derived nodes such as dynamic rotor systems and primitive shapes; aerofoil profiles for AeroSurfaces; energy–maneuverability graphs and aircraft performance profiling; and further features listed in the contribution guide. A C++ port exists on a separate branch and is described as functional, but it needs further testing and automation before a full release. Documentation topics referenced include Getting Started, Getting Familiar with Aero Nodes, Aerodynamic Design, Using Atmospheres, and Control Theory. Contribution guidance is provided in CONTRIBUTING.md.
