About this project
Dust3D is a cross-platform 3D modeling software designed to simplify the creation of low-poly 3D models for video games, 3D printing, and other applications. It offers built-in rigging, procedural animation, and UV unwrapping, and supports export to GLB and FBX formats. The project is open-source under the MIT License.
Key features include:
- Cross-platform support (Windows, macOS, Linux)
- Low-poly modeling workflow
- Built-in rigging and procedural animation
- Automatic UV unwrapping
- Export to GLB and FBX
- Qt-based GUI
For developers, the build process requires Qt 6 (or Qt 5) with modules qtbase, qtsvg, and qtmultimedia, and a C++17-compatible compiler. The repository provides instructions for building on Windows (using Qt Creator and Visual Studio 2022), macOS (via Homebrew and Xcode tools), and Linux (using package managers). The build uses qmake and make.
Release management is handled via Git tags and GitHub Actions, producing binaries for Windows, Linux (AppImage), and macOS (DMG).
