INSTEAD is an open-source text adventure interpreter written in C++, licensed under MIT. It loads games from local directories (.instead/games/) or zip-packed files via command-line, with GTK2/3 file dialogs for selection. Web resources include homepage, code repository, discussions, and documentation. Developed by community with IRC channel for real-time builds monitoring.
