About this project

Thrive is the main development repository for an open-source evolution game created by Revolutionary Games. The game allows players to guide cells through the stages of evolution, starting from single-celled organisms and progressing toward complex multicellular life forms. The project is built using C# and the Godot game engine, with a well-organized repository structure that includes assets (models and binaries managed via Git LFS), documentation, simulation parameters (JSON files and C# constants for game tuning), utility scripts, core source code, and tests. The repository supports contributions from programmers, artists, sound engineers, and translators. Programmers work with C# and Godot, following a style guide and setup instructions provided in the doc folder. Artists can work on models, textures, and GUI assets, with some assets editable in a separate raw assets repository. The project uses Git LFS for large binary files and provides helper scripts runnable via dotnet. Community resources include forums, a Discord server, a developer wiki, a Patreon page, and a Weblate translation platform. The game is available on Steam and Itch.io, and the project maintains a public planning board for tracking issues and pull requests by priority and status.
