About this project

DualSenseX (DSX) is a Windows application for using a Sony PS5 DualSense (and DualSense Edge) controller on PC. It connects over USB or Bluetooth and exposes controller features that games normally do not access, most notably adaptive trigger effects. Key capabilities described in the README: - Adaptive trigger configuration with 19 named trigger states, including Normal, GameCube, Resistance, Bow, Galloping, SemiAutomaticGun, AutomaticGun, Machine, Choppy, VerySoft/Soft/Medium/Hard/VeryHard/Hardest, Rigid, VibrateTriggerPulse and VibrateTrigger, plus a CustomTriggerValue mode with 17 sub-modes such as Rigid A/B/AB, Pulse, VibrateResistance and Vibrate Pulse variants. - Emulation modes: Xbox 360, DualShock 4, or OFF (no emulation, controller read only inside the app). - Controller testing screen for buttons and joysticks, battery status readout, LED color configuration, and vibration testing. - Keyboard-to-controller mapping for games without native controller support. - Auto-connect on launch, optional Steam termination, Windows startup launch, self-updating app, dark/light themes, custom border RGB color with transparency, and 20+ interface languages. - Speaker/headphone jack audio over USB only. Installation requires the app package plus the ViGEmBus driver; HidHide is optional and a reboot is advised after installing it. For game developers, the README documents two integration methods: a UDP server/client over localhost (with a downloadable example project) and a text-file protocol. The text file uses keys such as LeftTrigger, RightTrigger, VibrateTriggerIntensity, CustomTriggerValueLeftMode/RightMode, and ForceLeftTrigger/ForceRightTrigger, with per-state parameter counts and value ranges documented. A batch file can launch the app, auto-connect the controller and begin applying trigger states from the text file; the README suggests writing to the file each frame and keeping it free of extra whitespace to reduce read delay. The README also lists community game mods that use DualSenseX for adaptive trigger and LED effects, including Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon 4/5, Assetto Corsa, GTA 5, Duck Game and Skyrim SE, and warns against using such mods in online games. Important status note: the README states that the GitHub version (v1.4.9) is no longer supported or updated, and that development has moved to the Steam release named DSX. It also warns that DualSenseX has no official website and that users should not visit sites other than the listed repository and Steam page. The project credits ViGEmBus, HidSharp, DualSense2Xbox, DualSense-Windows, DS4Windows and other references as foundations.
