About this project

Faugus Launcher is a simple, lightweight application for running Windows games on Linux using UMU-Launcher. It targets users who want a graphical front end for managing game prefixes and Proton versions without relying on a full store client. Installation options cover several Linux ecosystems: Arch-based distributions via the AUR (yay -S faugus-launcher), Fedora and Nobara through a Copr repository, Debian-based systems via a PPA or a downloadable .deb package, and a Flatpak build published on Flathub. The README also documents building from source with Meson and Ninja, listing dependencies such as pygobject, requests, pillow, vdf, psutil, dbus-python, icoextract, GTK4, libadwaita and libmanette. Key operational details are spelled out: default game prefixes live in ~/Faugus/, Proton builds are expected under ~/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/, and themes are read from ~/.themes, ~/.local/share/themes and /usr/share/themes depending on native or Flatpak installation. For Flatpak, the README provides specific override commands so the launcher can detect Steam users and games, let Steam run Faugus shortcuts, and share icon and theme directories. Features visible in the documentation include a Proton Manager, add/edit game and tool dialogs, launch settings, general and interface settings, and multiple library layouts (list, grid, covers, carousel). Gamepad mapping is documented for PlayStation and Xbox controllers, covering confirm, cancel, game menu, kill, add game/app, settings and power options. A YouTube video is linked for usage guidance, and screenshots illustrate the main window, add/edit flows, settings and Proton Manager. Translations are managed on Weblate, where contributors can sign in and translate directly in the browser.
