About this project

Subtitle Assistant is an open-source tool for Windows and macOS designed to resolve mismatches between external subtitle and video filenames. It ensures operational safety through a four-step process: "Scan → Preview → Confirm → Execute," modifying only subtitle filenames without touching video files. It supports various subtitle formats (such as .srt, .ass, .idx/.sub, etc.), automatically standardizes language tags, and handles complex naming scenarios like multi-episode merges and special episodes. The program includes built-in conflict detection, batch failure rollback, and a history of 100 undo actions. The interface supports light and dark themes and operates entirely offline with no data uploads. Users can drag in folders or run via command line, making it ideal for managing local media libraries. The build version is portable, the source code is based on Python 3.10+, developed with the assistance of OpenAI Codex, and led by Fade1025 for requirements and testing.
