About this project
MDN History Content is a community-driven tool designed to assist contributors in the MDN (Mozilla Developer Network) translation ecosystem. It functions as a translation dashboard that monitors the latest updates to MDN documentation pages on a daily basis and reports their status to translators.
The primary value of this project is enabling translators to quickly identify which pages they need to translate or update in their specific language. By comparing current content against previous versions, it highlights discrepancies and new material requiring attention.
Users can access the deployed site and select their preferred language using an on-page selector or by appending a query parameter (e.g., `?lang=zh-cn`) to the URL. The system currently supports a wide range of locales including German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
Technically, the repository operates automatically, updating its data every six hours. All processed content is deployed to GitHub Pages, allowing users to search for pages by their path. The project is open-source under the Mozilla Public License Version 2.0 and welcomes contributions via issues and pull requests, following the provided contributing guidelines.
