About this project
Android DEX is a free, closed-source desktop application for Windows, Linux, and macOS that transforms an Android device into a desktop-like experience. It allows users to run Android apps in resizable windows, mirror screens, stream per-app audio, manage notifications, control media playback, and play games with native keyboard and mouse input. The app uses high-performance ADB and companion services over USB or Wi-Fi, with all processing done locally and no data collection or cloud communication.
Key features include a desktop home interface, app dashboard, multi-app view, media center, audio overlay, and media preferences. Gaming mode provides advanced controls such as tap spots, D-pad/joystick, FPS mouse lock with gyro aim, right-click aim/ADS, swipe and skill triggers, script macros, and game profile management. It claims no emulator detection because games run directly on the physical device, with touch events passed via low-level protocols.
Keyboard shortcuts include Ctrl+G for game controls, Ctrl+F for fullscreen, Esc to exit fullscreen, and system-level hotkeys for show/hide and device switching.
The app is built on Flutter for the UI, Kotlin for the Android companion service, and uses ADB and scrcpy for mirroring and input. It is closed-source with a restrictive license prohibiting commercial use, redistribution, and monetized distribution. Official documentation covers architecture, boot flow, reconnection, data model, error handling, modules, and device manager.
