About this project

octo-detective is a 2D detective game developed using the Love 2D game engine and the Lua programming language. Players control a detective to explore levels, discover clues based on specific activation conditions, and ultimately identify and arrest the correct suspect at the police car. Key technical features include: - Level System: Levels are defined via Lua scripts (e.g., map1.lua) which specify level size, starting positions for the player and police car, and clue properties. - Clue Mechanics: Clues can have activation delays, dependencies on other discovered clues, and specific visual representations. - Controls: Movement is handled via arrow keys, clue discovery via the space bar, and menu/arrest interactions via the mouse. The project includes support for multiple lighting sources and animations, with a design intended to allow level designers to create custom mysteries easily.
