About this project

Graphite is a free, open-source vector and raster graphics engine and editor, currently available in alpha. It combines layer-based compositing with a node-based procedural graphics core, enabling fully nondestructive editing workflows. The editor is built like a game engine, with tools wrapping the node graph to provide user-friendly workflows for vector and raster creation. Planned features include photo editing, motion graphics, digital painting, desktop publishing, and VFX compositing. The project is community-built and funded, with a mission to make comprehensive art and design tools accessible to all. The source code is dual-licensed under MIT or Apache 2.0. The repository includes screenshots showcasing procedural patterns, fractals, and magazine layout design. Contributions from graphics programmers and Rust developers are welcome, with setup instructions available on the website.
