ComfyUI_frontend is the official front-end implementation of ComfyUI, the node-graph interface used to build and run AI image generation workflows. It is the browser-facing layer that renders the canvas, node editor and surrounding UI, and it ships as the default interface for ComfyUI installations. Core interface capabilities - Node graph canvas built on Litegraph, with node search, fuzzy matching and node previews. - Node library sidebar tab supporting drag-and-drop and filtering. - Queue and history sidebar tab for tracking workflow execution. - Mask editor for painting and refining masks directly in the interface. - Integrated server terminal toggled with Ctrl + `. - Canvas pan mode, group selection, nested groups, group title editing and Ctrl+G grouping of selected nodes. - Auto-connection of links to the correct slot, shift-drag link creation, multi-link dragging, and automatic conversion of a widget to an input when a compatible link is dropped on it. - Optional input slots displayed as donuts, and text overflow handling on widget values. Localization and customization - Native i18n support covering 14 languages, selectable under Comfy > Locale > Language, replacing third-party translation extensions. - Keybinding customization UI with reset and edit dialogs. Extension and developer APIs - Extension registration via app.registerExtension for settings, commands, keybindings, topbar menu items, sidebar tabs, bottom panel tabs, about-page badges and toast messages. - New settings API through app.extensionManager.setting, alongside the legacy app.ui.settings API. - Dialog replacements for window.prompt, window.confirm and window.alert, intended for the Electron-based ComfyUI desktop environment. - Selection toolbox API that lets extensions contribute commands shown when canvas items are selected. Release process - Each minor version follows a two-week development phase, a two-week feature freeze with bug-fix cherry-picks, then publication. - Nightly releases are published daily; users can opt in with --front-end-version Comfy-Org/ComfyUI_frontend@latest. - Successive minor versions overlap, so a feature typically takes about four weeks from merge to stable release.
