About this project

This is a Home Assistant custom integration for GARDENA smart devices that uses local communication with the GARDENA smart Gateway rather than routing through the cloud. It provides real-time updates via an experimental WebSocket service on the gateway, which must be enabled through the gateway's web interface or via curl commands. The integration supports a range of GARDENA devices including Water Control valves, Irrigation Control, Automatic Home & Garden Pump, smart Sensors, Power Adapter, and SILENO robotic lawn mowers. Exposed entities vary by device and include valves, switches, temperature, soil moisture, light, battery, RF link quality, pump metrics, and lawn mower controls. Installation is available through HACS or manual copying of the custom component directory. Configuration can be done through the Home Assistant UI by entering the gateway IP/hostname and password, with Zeroconf auto-discovery also supported. Legacy YAML configuration remains available. The project includes Home Assistant blueprints for opening valves, powering on outlets, and starting pumps with a configurable duration. These blueprints wrap service calls in scripts so the duration field renders as a form in dashboard more-info dialogs. The README provides detailed tile card YAML examples showing how to display real device state alongside the duration prompt. The integration is built around the gardena-smart-local-api library, which is linked for additional device type details. The README notes that Water Control temperature sensors are intended for frost detection only, and warns that firmware updates on Gen1 devices factory-reset settings. The GARDENA smart SILENO sense is listed as unsupported because it does not use the smart Gateway.
