aports

Alpine Linux aports is the repository that holds the APKBUILD files for every package in Alpine Linux, together with the patches and scripts those packages need. It also includes extra files and directories used for testing and building packages on GitLab via GitLab CI. The tree is organized into three repositories (directories), each with its own policies, use cases and workflows: - main: packages expected in a basic system, supported across the official release cycle, with an assigned maintainer. Packages should include documentation shipped with the source and enable test suites when provided. New packages are rarely added directly here; the usual path is testing => main. - community: packages that do not belong in main and have completed testing. They should have a maintainer, enable test suites when provided, and preferably ship documentation. The usual path is testing => community. - testing: packages that do not follow the official release cycle and are only shipped in the edge branch. This area is a staging ground for introducing and testing packages; requirements are minimal beyond building correctly. Packages should move to another repository once verified, and are removed after notification if not moved within roughly six to nine months. Contributors are directed to the Alpine Linux contributor guide and can submit merge requests on GitLab or send git patches to the aports mailing list (noted as presently not functional). The repository also provides git hooks in the .githooks directory, enabled with a local core.hooksPath configuration, plus coding-style and commit-style guideline documents for writing APKBUILDs and commit messages.
