Anubis is a Web AI Firewall Utility that acts as a gatekeeper for upstream web resources, subjecting incoming HTTP connections to challenges to determine their legitimacy. The project aims to reduce the burden of automated requests from AI companies and scrapers, particularly for smaller sites that lack the resources to handle such traffic. Anubis is intentionally lightweight to ensure it is affordable for operators with modest resources. It includes a bot policy allowlist to permit known-good bots and is positioned as an alternative for those who cannot use Cloudflare. The project is open-source, with documentation available at anubis.techaro.lol and support via GitHub issues and a Patreon-linked chat channel.
