symphony

Symphony is an open-source music player for Android, described as lightweight and elegant, aimed at improving the offline music listening experience. It requires Android 9 or later. Origin and focus: the author created it after finding that many popular, good-looking music players lacked filename/path-based sorting, which was needed to keep a local music collection organized. Rather than forking an existing player, the project was written from scratch as an opportunity to work with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. Distribution: builds are published through GitHub releases, F-Droid, IzzyOnDroid and the Google Play Store. The project labels itself as partially stable and maintains both stable and nightly release channels, with CI workflows for stable builds and code analysis. Community and documentation: a project wiki, Discord server and subreddit are linked, along with GitHub Sponsors and Patreon for funding.
