About this project

Piano Trainer helps users memorize piano scales, chords and intervals through interactive practice sessions. The app supports external MIDI keyboards as well as home‑row computer keyboard input, making it usable on any platform. Features include dedicated modes for scales, chords, fifths, a quiz mode, hard mode for increased difficulty, and a shuffle option to randomise exercises. The UI is built with Tauri, allowing native desktop builds for Windows, macOS and Linux, and a Flatpak package is provided for non‑FHS distributions. Development requires Rust and the Tauri CLI; the repository includes scripts for running (`yarn tauri dev`) and building (`yarn tauri build`). Contributions are welcomed via pull requests to the `dev` branch, and the project follows automated code formatting via Git hooks. Downloads are available for free on itch.io and via GitHub releases.
