About this project

Meetily is a privacy-focused meeting note-taking application designed to capture, transcribe, and summarize meetings without requiring cloud processing for its core local workflow. The community edition is open source under the MIT license and is distributed with installers for Windows and macOS; Linux users can build from source. Its main features include real-time local transcription using Whisper or Parakeet models, local storage of recordings and transcripts, and AI-generated summaries. Ollama is the recommended local summarization provider, and the application also supports Claude, Groq, OpenRouter, OpenAI-compatible endpoints, and custom OpenAI-compatible services. Users can import existing audio files for transcription or re-transcribe recorded meetings with a different model or language. Meetily can capture microphone and system audio together, with device selection, audio ducking, and clipping prevention described in the project documentation. GPU support varies by platform: macOS packages use Metal and CoreML, Windows packages include a Vulkan-enabled Whisper build, and Linux acceleration must be configured during a source build. CUDA is available through a custom NVIDIA source build rather than the standard Windows installer. The application is built with Tauri, using Rust for backend logic and Next.js for the interface. Building from source requires Rust and Node.js, with additional project documentation provided for Linux and general builds. The README distinguishes the free community edition from Meetily PRO, a separate commercial offering advertised with enhanced accuracy, custom summary templates, advanced exports, automatic meeting detection, team deployment, and other planned features. Speaker identification and diarization are presented as upcoming PRO features rather than established community-edition capabilities in the README.
