KoAkademy is an open-source school administration and learning platform designed for self-hosting, built from real classroom experience in the Philippines. It aims to provide institutions with a system of record that they own, avoiding vendor lock-in and per-student pricing. The platform includes three distinct portals for administrators, faculty, and students, covering daily workflows such as enrollment, classes, attendance, grading, schedules, tuition, and announcements. A key feature is its versioned enrollment blueprint engine, which models institutional policies as configurable, auditable workflows rather than hardcoded rules. Optional modules for library, inventory, cashier, medical records, and more can be enabled as needed. KoAkademy is built with Laravel 13, PHP 8.5, Filament 5, Inertia v3, React 19, TypeScript, and Vite 8. It uses PostgreSQL for production, Redis for queues and caching, and Gotenberg for PDF rendering. Deployment is Docker-based, with a supported installer for Linux using Docker Swarm and Caddy for HTTPS. A Docker Compose topology is also available for manual management. The project is currently in beta and not recommended for production use without evaluation. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0-or-later, ensuring modified versions remain available to users. The author welcomes contributions, especially to adapt the system for schools outside the Philippines.
