ymir

Ymir is an open-source, work-in-progress Sega Saturn emulator. It runs on Windows 10 or later, macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later, most modern Linux distributions and FreeBSD, with support for x86-64 and ARM CPUs. Key features include loading games from MAME CHD, BIN+CUE, IMG+CCD, MDF+MDS or ISO files, automatic IPL (BIOS) ROM detection, automatic region switching, support for up to two players with multiple controller types, and fully customizable keybindings. It provides backup RAM, DRAM and ROM cartridge support, an integrated backup memory manager, forwards-compatible save states, rewinding up to one minute at 60 fps, turbo speed, frame stepping, fullscreen mode with VRR support, and optional graphics enhancements such as deinterlaced/progressive rendering and transparent mesh polygon rendering. A work-in-progress debugger is also included. The emulator does not require installation and accepts command-line arguments for disc images, profile directories, fullscreen, paused or fast-forward startup, debug tracing, and exception capture. Users must supply a Saturn IPL (BIOS) ROM, and Windows users need the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package. The project provides stable and nightly releases, an official compatibility list, and community support through Discord.
