Gutenberg is the development hub for the WordPress block editor project. It introduces a modular approach to creating pages and posts: every piece of content, from a paragraph to an image gallery to a headline, is its own block. Blocks can be added, arranged and rearranged, letting users build media-rich pages in a visually intuitive way without shortcodes or custom HTML. The block editor first became available in December 2018.
