About this project

Rspack is a fast, Rust-based bundler for the web that modernizes the webpack API. Its stated goal is to allow seamless replacement of webpack while providing fast build speeds. Key features described in the README: - Fast startup: built on Rust for fast build speed. - Lightning HMR: a built-in incremental compilation mechanism intended to keep hot module replacement fast, including for large projects. - Webpack compatibility: compatible with plugins and loaders from the webpack ecosystem. - Module Federation: first-class support for Module Federation for large-scale web applications. - Production optimization: built-in strategies such as tree shaking and minification. - Framework agnostic: not bound to any frontend framework. Rspack is part of the Rstack toolchain, which also includes Rsbuild (build tool), Rslib (library development tool), Rspress (static site generator), Rsdoctor (build analyzer), Rstest (testing framework) and Rslint (linter). Getting started is documented on the project site, with a quick start guide and a StackBlitz example. The repository links to documentation for Rspack 2.x, 1.x and 0.x, a dev server, examples, a Rust port of webpack-sources, design resources and an awesome list. Benchmarks are published separately for comparisons with other tools and for performance trends over time. The project credits webpack and its community, SWC for parsing/transformation/minification, esbuild for concurrent architecture inspiration, NAPI-RS for Node bindings, Parcel for incremental rebuild design inspiration, Vite for ecosystem compatibility inspiration, and several other projects for plugin and tracing inspiration. Rspack is MIT licensed and has a contributing guide and code of conduct.
