Chroma Chords is a web-based audio widget designed to help musicians and producers quickly sketch chord progressions without the friction of opening a DAW. Users can seed progressions using natural language vibe prompts (e.g., "rainy drive at 2am"), by selecting from over 23 genres, or by choosing from 6 mood profiles. The application features an interactive Swap Sheet that provides context-aware harmonic alternative suggestions grouped by emotional shifts, such as Darker, More tension, Dreamier, or Resolve home. It includes a Voicing Inspector to invert chords, adjust octaves, and audition notes, alongside a theory mode displaying Roman numeral notation, harmonic roles, and interactive staff notation. The tool supports song arrangement with multi-section structures (Intro, Verse, Pre-Chorus, Chorus, Bridge, Outro) and an interactive play-along mode with touch, keyboard, and pedal controls. Built-in Band DNA profiles emulate the harmonic styles of specific artists. The audio engine uses Tone.js, offering instruments like Rhodes, acoustic piano, nylon guitar, string pads, and various synths, with play styles including block chords, strumming, and arpeggiation. Export capabilities include standard MIDI files, browser-rendered WAV audio, and load links for hardware such as the Dirtywave M8 and Novation Circuit. Cloud sync is available via Supabase for saving progression sets. The project is built with Lit v3 Web Components, TypeScript, Vite, and Vitest, using Cloudflare Workers for AI-assisted vibe classification via Google Gemini, OpenRouter, and Claude Haiku.
