About this project
Awesome DESIGN.md is a curated collection of design system documents (DESIGN.md) extracted from real websites across many industries. The concept originates from Google Stitch — a plain-text markdown file that AI agents read to understand how a UI should look and feel, without needing Figma exports or JSON schemas.
The repo currently contains 73+ DESIGN.md files covering major brands including AI platforms (Claude, Cohere, Mistral, OpenAI, xAI), developer tools (Cursor, Vercel, Raycast, Warp), backend services (ClickHouse, MongoDB, Supabase, Sentry), productivity SaaS (Linear, Notion, Zapier, Cal.com), design tools (Figma, Framer, Webflow), fintech/crypto (Stripe, Revolut, Coinbase, Wise), e-commerce (Airbnb, Nike, Shopify), media brands (Apple, Spotify, The Verge, WIRED), and automotive (BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Tesla). A retro web section also includes vintage designs from the 1990s and 2000s (Dell 1996, Nintendo.com 2001).
Each DESIGN.md follows the Stitch specification and typically includes sections on visual theme, color palette with semantic names and hex values, typography rules, component stylings (buttons, cards, inputs, navigation), layout principles and spacing scale, depth and elevation, do's and don'ts guardrails, responsive behavior, and an agent prompt guide. Each entry also ships a `preview.html` and `preview-dark.html` visual catalog showing color swatches, type scale, buttons, and cards.
To use one, copy the DESIGN.md into your project root and instruct your AI coding agent to reference it when building UI. Users can also request custom DESIGN.md files for specific websites via getdesign.md/request.
