About this project

Forgehouse is a conversational AI website studio designed to bridge the gap between a product idea and a working web experience. Instead of starting with a blank code editor, users describe changes in natural language, and the system produces safe, versioned revisions that appear immediately in an isolated preview. Key capabilities include: - Conversational editing: Submit natural-language instructions to modify site structure, copy, or design. - Groq-powered generation: Server-side integration with the Groq OpenAI-compatible API for structured file changes, with a deterministic safe fallback mode when no API key is configured. - Live browser preview: Sandboxed iframe rendering with desktop, tablet, and mobile viewport controls. - Immutable revisions: Retains all previous versions and allows restoring earlier states by creating new revisions. - Application-hosted publishing: Publishes selected revisions to public `/sites/:slug` routes with restrictive Content Security Policies. - Authentication and ownership: Account sessions with per-user project scoping. - Generation jobs: Observable job states (queued, running, succeeded, failed, cancelled) with cancellation support. - Asset handling: Validated image uploads to protected project storage. The application is built with React 19, TypeScript, Vite, and an Express.js backend. It currently uses a local JSON file for persistence and an in-process job runner, suitable for single-instance development. The project includes automated CI via GitHub Actions for production builds and API verification, and is released under the MIT license.
