Elden Ring Practice Tool is a free utility created by johndisandonato for practicing speedruns in Elden Ring. It is distributed as a downloadable release and runs as an overlay on top of the game, toggled with the 0 key. Setup requirements include having Steam running, a completely vanilla game installation with no mods, no conflicting overlay software (Steam Overlay excepted), a legitimate copy of the game, and an Easy Anti-Cheat bypass applied via the textfile method. The tool can apply the bypass automatically on first run. Two usage modes are documented. In standalone mode, users extract the archive, launch eldenring.exe directly (never through Steam), then run jdsd_er_practice_tool.exe. In installed mode, users copy jdsd_er_practice_tool.toml and jdsd_er_practice_tool.dll into the game folder, rename the DLL to dinput8.dll, launch the game directly, and hold right shift during startup to load the tool. Uninstalling means removing those two files. Linux and Steam Deck are supported. Standalone use is suggested through protontricks with appid 1245620, while installed mode requires setting WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" in Steam launch options.
