About this project

DocVault is a self-hosted personal finance and document workspace designed to keep sensitive data on your own machine. It organizes multi-entity tax records, tracks net worth across brokerage accounts, crypto, banks, precious metals, and real estate, and parses financial documents such as W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, and receipts using Claude Vision. The application includes federal tax summaries, a Solo 401(k) calculator, estimated quarterly tax tracking, mileage logs, and CPA package export. Beyond taxes, DocVault offers portfolio aggregation through SnapTrade, SimpleFIN, and crypto exchange integrations, with automatic daily snapshots and historical net worth charts. A quant section provides dashboards for crypto risk metrics, macroeconomic indicators, housing, commodities, and market conditions. AI-generated strategy notes can be authored via Claude Code and rendered with signal grids and markdown analysis. The platform also ingests congressional trading disclosures from public government filings, including politician stock trades, options contract details, consensus clustering, and a copy-trade backtest. An AI chat interface supports multi-threaded conversations with tool use, document reading, and voice input through OpenAI-compatible transcription services. Health data from Apple Health can be synced via an iOS Shortcut, with dashboards for activity, heart, sleep, workouts, and body composition, plus automatic illness detection. Time tracking and billing features include timesheets, sub-clients, invoice generation with PDF output, email delivery, and scheduled reports with client scoping. Privacy features include a blur financial numbers toggle, encrypted backup and restore, Dropbox sync, and zero telemetry. The application runs as a single Docker container with one volume mount, using React 19 and TypeScript on the frontend and a Bun native server on the backend. It is licensed under GPL v3.0.
