About this project

Kairós is an Android and Wear OS application that converts calendar appointments into full-screen alarms, so events are harder to miss. It reads events from any calendar account configured on the device and schedules alerts in the background. Key capabilities described in the README: - Full-screen alarms that wake the device even when locked, with visual and sound alerts on phone and watch. - Wear OS integration: watch-face complications showing the next event and tiles for quick event access. - Background scheduling via WorkManager, plus DataStore, Room and AlarmManager for persistence and alarms. - AI features: an AI agent with streamed chat answers grounded in the user's agenda, daily briefings, and tool calling. Cloud Gemini Pro/Flash handles complex tasks and function calling; Gemini Nano is preferred for on-device inference for privacy and speed, with fallback to cloud when unsupported. - Tool-calling safety model with SAFE, MODERATE and CRITICAL risk levels; critical actions such as creating an event require explicit user confirmation. - Reliability controls: streaming responses, retry with backoff before any content is streamed, client-side rate limiting, and typed errors surfaced in the UI. - Android AppFunctions (API 36+) expose createEvent and getDailyBriefing to system assistants. - Global or per-event alarm toggles. Architecture and stack: 100% Kotlin, Jetpack Compose for phone and Wear OS, MVVM + MVI with unidirectional data flow, Clean Architecture, and a multi-module layout with feature bridge/impl pairs, core modules, convention plugins and a Gradle version catalog. Navigation uses Navigation 3 through an AppNavigator seam. Dependencies include Hilt, Coroutines/Flow, Firebase AI, Wearable Data Layer, and testing with JUnit4, Robolectric, Turbine and MockK. The README documents build prerequisites (Android Studio Jellyfish+, JDK 21, SDK 36), CLI install commands for app and wear modules, unit test and Jacoco coverage tasks, Spotless formatting, and notes that release builds require google-services.json and signing/ad configuration.
