Suwayomi-Server is a free and open-source manga reader server that runs extensions built for Mihon (Tachiyomi). It is an independent, Mihon-compatible project rather than a fork, and it is designed to be multi-platform: any system with Java and/or a modern browser can run it, including Windows, Linux, macOS and ChromeOS. Because the server itself has no built-in user interface, a client app is required as a front-end. Direct downloads bundle Suwayomi-WebUI, and the server can keep integrated clients such as Suwayomi-WebUI and Suwayomi-VUI automatically up to date. Other clients exist, including desktop apps (Tachidesk-JUI, Moku, Tachidesk-VaadinUI), web and mobile clients (Tachidesk-Sorayomi, Tachidesk-qtui), and a KOReader plugin; some of these may be inactive or abandoned. Core capabilities include installing and executing Mihon (Tachiyomi) extensions to access the same sources, searching and browsing installed sources, maintaining a library with categories, automated library updates for new chapters, automated downloading of new chapters, viewing recently updated chapters, and downloading manga for offline reading. Backups and restores use Mihon-compatible formats, and automated backup creation is supported. Reading progress can be tracked through services such as MyAnimeList, AniList and MangaUpdates. FlareSolverr support helps bypass Cloudflare protection, and OPDS and OPDS-PSE are supported at the /api/opds/v1.2 endpoint. Installation options are broad. Operating-system bundles include the Java Runtime Environment, ElectronJS and a launcher for Windows, macOS (x64 and arm64) and GNU/Linux (x64). Other methods include an official Docker container (default at http://localhost:4567), an Arch Linux AUR package, a Debian/Ubuntu deb package, and a NixOS module or nixpkgs package. Advanced users can run the jar release directly with Java 21 or newer, or host the server remotely and connect through a client or the bundled web interface. Suwayomi can sync with Mihon (Tachiyomi) and Neko. A Suwayomi extension and tracker can be installed inside Mihon and forks to load the Suwayomi library, browse categories through search filters, and sync reading progress in either direction. In Neko, the Suwayomi merge source can merge titles and perform two-way automatic sync for merged titles. On GNU/Linux, optional WebView support is implemented via JCEF and requires X11 libraries such as libxrender, libxcomposite, libxdamage, libxkbcommon and libxtst, plus an active X session (or Xvfb). The project provides troubleshooting documentation, a contributing guide, and translations through Weblate. It is licensed under MPL v. 2.0, with portions derived from TachiWeb-Server and Mihon (Tachiyomi) under Apache License 2.0. The developer states no affiliation with content providers.
