About this project
OpenLoop is a free, open-source Android application designed for creating seamless video loops. It emphasizes privacy and transparency, operating without subscriptions, ads, or account requirements, with all video processing performed locally on the device.
Key capabilities include:
- Video Looping: Capture clips up to 30 seconds or import existing videos to create forward, reverse, or bouncing loops using Media3 Transformer.
- Speed Control: Offers real-time playback speed adjustments (0.5x to 3.0x) and a custom speed curve tool to precisely control the ramp of the loop.
- Face Lenses: Includes nine ML Kit-powered face lenses (e.g., Broccoli, Vampire, Cowboy) that render live in the viewfinder and support multiple people in a single shot.
- Photography Modes: Features a standard photo mode and a "Photo Booth" mode that captures a sequence of three photos with a countdown, compositing them into a classic vertical strip.
- Technical Stack: Built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, utilizing AndroidX CameraX for camera operations and Jetpack DataStore for preferences. It targets API 36 (Android 16) and employs Baseline Profiles to optimize startup and runtime performance.
