Steadybit extension-aws is a discovery and fault injection extension for the Steadybit chaos engineering platform, targeting Amazon Web Services. It automatically discovers resources across a wide range of AWS services including EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, API Gateway, ELB (ALB and NLB), NAT Gateway, EventBridge, EBS volumes, Auto Scaling Groups, ElastiCache, Amazon MQ, MSK, FIS, Subnets, VPCs, and Availability Zones. Each service type can be individually enabled or disabled and has a configurable discovery interval (ranging from 30 to 300 seconds depending on the service). The extension supports AWS role assumption (including advanced multi-role assumption), region filtering, and tag-based filtering to control which resources are discovered. It also provides EC2 data enrichment for target types such as JVM instances, containers, and Kubernetes deployments, matched by a configurable attribute (defaulting to host.hostname). Configuration is managed through environment variables or Helm values, making it suitable for Kubernetes-based deployments. The extension is designed for reliability testing and fault injection in production AWS environments, allowing teams to validate system resilience by simulating failures across their cloud infrastructure.
