About this project
LumaGram is an open-source Telegram client for Android built upon the official Telegram Android source code. It maintains Telegram's core protocol and behavior while introducing visual enhancements such as Liquid Glass, a FullBlack theme, and various interface refinements.
The project emphasizes security and transparency. Releases are published on GitHub with corresponding SHA-256 checksums, changelogs, and Git commit references. The in-app updater enforces strict verification, ensuring updates are downloaded over HTTPS and only installed if the SHA-256 hash, package name, version code, and signing certificate match the expected values. The release signing key is deliberately kept separate from the repository.
Users can build the client independently from source using JDK 17, Android SDK 35, and their own Telegram API credentials. The repository includes tools for generating update manifests and supports local signing configurations. LumaGram operates independently and is not affiliated with Telegram FZ-LLC. It is distributed under the GNU General Public License v2 or later.
