About this project

Mixx-DJ-MCP is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that gives AI assistants direct control over the open-source Mixxx DJ application. It is described as "AI-native DJ control for Mixxx," exposing 80+ operations across decks, library, effects, mixer, stems, transitions and video. How it works: the server bridges MCP tool calls to Mixxx over OSC. Mixxx must be configured once (Preferences > MIDI/OSC > Enable OSC, out 11118, in 11119, send to 127.0.0.1). After that, assistants such as Claude, Cursor or opencode can issue natural-language commands that map to tool calls, e.g. loading a track on a deck, syncing, cueing, or fading in on the next beat. Startup is a single command using uv: sync dependencies and run the uvicorn server on port 11116. Ports are documented: 11116 backend REST API + MCP transport, 11117 React webapp (Vite), 11118 OSC feedback from Mixxx, 11119 OSC commands to Mixxx. Video DJing is supported through the separate "mixxxxx" fork of Mixxx, which adds FFmpeg video playback, per-deck video widgets and fullscreen projector output alongside the audio engine.
