About this project

ArchiveTune is an open-source Android music player built with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Material Design 3. It provides a high-performance, privacy-focused alternative to official YouTube Music clients, supporting both local audio files and streaming from YouTube Music. The app follows an MVVM architecture and offers features such as multiple account support, ad-free background playback, quick switching between accounts, and automatic import of playlists, liked songs, and subscriptions after sign-in. Audio processing includes EBU R128 loudness normalization, independent tempo, pitch and playback speed controls, crossfade, and integration with the system equalizer and spatial audio. Lyrics are displayed with live synchronization, translation, AI-based translation and romanization, and word-by-word alignment. Additional tools include music recognition for nearby songs and listening statistics. For synchronization and social integration, ArchiveTune can import playlists from Spotify, sync with YouTube Music accounts, scrobble to Last.fm, sync history with ListenBrainz, and show Discord rich presence. The user interface offers up to nine player styles and eight background styles, dynamic color extraction from album art, and responsive layouts for different screen sizes. Users can customize gestures, animations, and layout options to fit their workflow. The project is distributed through Obtainium, IzzyOnDroid, GitHub releases, OpenAPK, and Unclouded, with nightly builds available via GitHub Actions. Community support is provided through Telegram and Discord channels, and translations are coordinated via Weblate. ArchiveTune is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 and is not affiliated with Google or YouTube.
