PicView is a fast, free, and fully customizable picture viewer for macOS and Windows 10/11. It supports virtually all image file types, including animated WEBP, animated GIF, SVG, AVIF, HEIC, PSD, CBZ (Archive), CBR (Archive), and many others. The application provides a clean, free, and fast experience with no annoying pop-ups and zero tracking. It works out of the box, or you can customize it to your needs. Key features include an image info window for operations such as renaming, file conversion, copying, compressing, resizing, adding to the recycle bin, and editing EXIF image ratings. It also supports GPS coordinate display with links to Google or Bing maps. The image gallery can be opened with the G key, and navigation is possible with arrow keys or W, A, S, D. The crop tool is accessible with the C key, and batch resizing allows conversion, compression, quality adjustment, and resizing by height, width, or percentage while maintaining aspect ratio. Thumbnail generation is also supported, creating up to 7 thumbnails in separate folders. File support includes common formats like JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, GIF, ICO, WEBP, SVG, and SVGZ; advanced formats like PSD, PSB, XCF, JXL, HEIC, HEIF, JP2, HDR, TGA, and DDS; archive formats like ZIP, 7Z, RAR, CBR, CB7, CBT, CBZ, XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, WIM, ISO, and CAB; RAW formats from various camera manufacturers; and other formats like PGM, HDR, CUT, EXR, DIB, EMF, WMF, WPG, PCX, XBM, XPM, and WBMP. PicView is built in C# .NET using the Avalonia cross-platform XAML UI framework. All builds are compiled using NativeAOT with trimming, resulting in a fully self-contained native executable. It uses Cysharp's ZLinq and ZString for zero allocation and high performance, and R3 for high-performance ViewModel binding and event streams. Magick.NET is used for its rich file support, image editing, and information capabilities. Downloads are available for Windows x64 and arm64, and macOS arm64 (Apple Silicon) and x64. Installation is also possible via Scoop, Winget, and Homebrew. The project is open source under the GPL v3 license, and contributions are welcome. It is translated into multiple languages, including Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Korean, German, Polish, French, Italian, Russian, Romanian, Swedish, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Hebrew, Hungarian, Turkish, Slovenian, Serbian, Catalan, English, and Danish. PicView does not collect, send, or receive any user data.
