About this project
Surmai is a personal and family travel organizer designed to address three main challenges in trip planning: enabling collaborative planning between multiple people, providing easy access to all necessary travel artifacts during a trip, and keeping data private. The project is in a very early alpha stage and under active development.
Key features include organizing a trip in one place, collaboration between multiple users, offline access, privacy, and mobile friendliness. Surmai is built as a Progressive Web App, so it can be installed on mobile phones like a regular app. A demo instance is available at https://demo.surmai.app/ with the provided demo credentials, and the demo site is cleaned up every hour.
The application uses PocketBase as its backend platform, React with Mantine for the frontend, Vite for building, and react-i18next for localization. Translations are managed through Hosted Weblate and can be contributed by the community. Data sources include OurAirports for airport information, a countries-states-cities database for city data, an airlines dataset, and ExchangeRate-API for currency conversion.
Installation instructions with Docker and a potential backup solution are available in the project documentation at http://surmai.app/documentation/installation. Screenshots and screencasts can be viewed at http://surmai.app/documentation/screenshots.
