About this project

This repository provides a Home Assistant custom integration for Cisco Meraki MT environmental sensors. It reads sensor data through the Meraki Dashboard API and registers each physical sensor as a Home Assistant device, with individual metrics exposed as separate entities. Supported readings include temperature, humidity, water detection, door status, button presses, CO2, TVOC, PM2.5, noise, indoor air quality index, battery level, electrical measurements (voltage, current, power), signal strength (RSSI) and last-seen connectivity metrics. Supported hardware is the MT series: MT10, MT12, MT14, MT15, MT20, MT30 and MT40. Installation is offered through HACS from the default repository, or manually by copying the custom_components/meraki_dashboard folder. Setup requires a Meraki API key and an organization selection; users can choose specific devices or monitor all, set the update interval, and enable or disable auto-discovery with its own scan interval. An option allows more frequent polling of MT15/MT40 devices. Important caveats are documented. Version 0.38.0 is a breaking release that makes the integration MT-only: support for MR access points, MS switches and MV cameras has been removed, and upgrading migrates the config entry and removes non-MT devices and entities, raising a repair notice. MT20 door and MT30 button events are surfaced by polling rather than webhooks, so brief events between polls can be missed or reported late. Meraki MT sensors also update roughly every 20 minutes by default, so shorter polling intervals do not necessarily yield fresher data. The README includes YAML examples for a water-leak automation and a dashboard entities card, entity naming conventions, sensor attributes (serial, model, network id/name, last reported timestamp), debug logging configuration, troubleshooting notes, and local development instructions using Poetry, pytest, ruff and hassfest.
