RTAL-EAI-002-WELLENBAD is an open-source wavetable synthesizer project that serves as an engineering study in pushing the limits of embedded audio. Built around the ESP32-S3 platform, it focuses on achieving deterministic real-time DSP and high sound quality with minimal hardware complexity. Key features include: - Synthesis: Dual wavetable oscillators, a morph engine, sub-oscillator, noise generator, and SD-card wavetable loading. - Performance Tools: Polyphonic synthesis, a step sequencer, arpeggiator, and MIDI clock support. - Audio Pipeline: Floating-point DSP, a soft limiter, and integration with the PCM5102A DAC. - Interface & Control: OLED user interface, user presets, and a PC editor for the wave sequencer. The project provides comprehensive documentation of its engineering journey, including firmware evolution, hardware revisions, and DSP concepts. The hardware platform utilizes an ESP32-S3 with 16MB Flash and 8MB PSRAM, an SSD1309 OLED display, and DIN MIDI connectivity.
