About this project
quiver.core is the engine behind Quiver, a decentralized, cross-platform, open-source application store. It consists of a local daemon that manages the full Arrow lifecycle, a REST API for clients and integrations, and a CLI for interacting with running instances. The desktop application is maintained in a separate repository.
Software packages (called Arrows) are defined as single YAML files hosted at the root of any Git repository alongside source code. The same schema describes CLI tools, game servers, web services, and system daemons. A package's identity is its Git-hosted namespace — for example, github.com/valve/steamcmd or github.com/valve/[email protected] — with no central registry, accounts, or approval process.
A single manifest can target all six supported platforms (linux/amd64, linux/arm64, windows/amd64, windows/arm64, darwin/amd64, darwin/arm64) using glob patterns, with inheritance from abstract base targets. Dependencies are identified by namespace@ref, allowing different versions of the same package to coexist without conflict resolution or forced upgrades.
Quiver ships as a single static binary with no runtime dependencies. Install scripts for macOS, Linux, and Windows verify SHA-256 checksums and require no privilege escalation — nothing is installed system-wide. The platform runs as a local service on each machine, enabling remote management of multiple hosts from a single desktop interface.
The project is licensed under GPL-3.0 and welcomes community contributions.
