About this project
Project Based Learning is a curated directory of programming tutorials maintained by the practical-tutorials community. It collects guides in which aspiring developers build a complete application from scratch, rather than just studying syntax. The tutorials are grouped by primary programming language and may combine multiple technologies.
The repository covers C/C++, C#, Clojure, Dart (Flutter), Elixir, Erlang, F#, Go, Haskell, HTML/CSS, Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, Lua, OCaml, PHP, Python, R, Ruby, Rust, Scala, Swift, plus an additional resources section. Within each language, links point to external tutorials, blog series, and video playlists. Examples include writing an interpreter, compiler, operating system, shell, database, key-value store, memory allocator, TCP/IP stack, Linux debugger, NES game, CHIP-8 emulator, Redis clone, and many web applications.
The JavaScript section is especially detailed, with subsections for React, Next.js, Angular, Node, Vue, D3.js, game development, desktop apps, and miscellaneous topics. It includes tutorials for cloning popular products such as Trello, Yelp, Medium, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Zoom, as well as original app builds and architectural deep dives.
The repository also provides contribution guidelines in CONTRIBUTING.md and runs a link-rot sweep via GitHub Actions to keep listed URLs working. It has a community chat on Gitter. No code or software is hosted here; it is a reference index of learning materials.
