About this project

The Dental Patient Manager is a demonstration web application for fictitious dental records. It offers a REST API built with Node.js 24 and Express 4, along with a static interface published on GitHub Pages. The project includes an interactive adult FDI odontogram with 32 dental elements, demonstrative clinical states, keyboard or pointer selection, and local persistence limited to the odontogram and theme. The demonstration is restorable and predictable: it always starts with a controlled base of 12 fictitious patients, does not persist visitor-entered data, and blocks deletions to preserve the shared experience. Registrations and edits are temporary, limited to 20 records per session, and the DELETE route returns 405. The backend applies input validation, a standardized error contract, a 10kb payload limit, and security headers such as Content-Security-Policy and Permissions-Policy. The test suite covers validations, HTTP responses, security, fixed base, record cap, and odontogram logic. CI runs syntax checks, ESLint, tests, Lighthouse accessibility audit, and dependency audit, with GitHub Pages deployment conditioned on CI success. The interface is responsive, features light and dark themes, keyboard-accessible navigation, and inserts dynamic data using DOM APIs to avoid unsafe innerHTML interpolation. The project is suitable as an educational reference or technical demonstration, not for storing real clinical data.
