About this project
FamilyNido is a self-hosted progressive web app designed as a single digital hub for one household. It brings together a shared family calendar, gamified chore tracking, weekly meal planning, school schedules, per-member health records, and a family message wall. The app is installable on phones, tablets and desktops, and includes a fullscreen tablet mode intended for a kitchen wall display.
Key features include a read-only one-way Google Calendar mirror, points and scoreboards for completed tasks, per-member recurring agenda patterns, weather via Open-Meteo, email and VAPID push notifications, and a versioned public API for integrations such as n8n, IFTTT, iOS shortcuts or Home Assistant. Authentication uses local credentials by default, with optional OIDC providers like PocketID, Dex, Keycloak or Authelia.
The stack consists of Angular 21 with Tailwind CSS v4 on the frontend, ASP.NET Core Minimal APIs with EF Core 10 on the backend, PostgreSQL 16 for storage, and SignalR for realtime updates. Deployment is provided through Docker Compose with Traefik labels. The repository includes xUnit and Testcontainers integration tests, optional Playwright end-to-end tests, and a development-only demo seed for exploring the UI. The project is MIT licensed.
