About this project
OpenTelemetry Weaver helps teams build observability by design by treating telemetry signals such as metrics, traces, and logs as a first-class public API. It provides a set of tools for working with schematized telemetry, including registry validation, resolving, diffing, code generation, live-checking emitted telemetry against a schema, and emitting example telemetry. The project supports pre-built binaries for Linux, Windows, and macOS, a Docker image, and building from source with Rust. It also offers GitHub Actions for CI integration, including setup-weaver and live-check start/stop actions. Weaver can generate artifacts such as Go code and Markdown documentation from semantic convention registries, and includes an MCP server for LLM integration. The tool is designed to prevent broken alerts, inconsistent naming, and unclear signals by enforcing schema consistency across systems.
