About this project

Simple Plant is a Home Assistant custom integration that helps users keep track of their houseplants and watering schedules without relying on external services or physical plant sensors. It was created to solve the problem of remembering when to water many plants, and it works entirely within Home Assistant. The integration creates a device per plant with several entities: a binary sensor indicating whether the plant needs water, a problem sensor for overdue watering, a button to mark the plant as watered, a date entity for the last watered date, an image entity for a plant picture, a number entity for days between waterings, a select entity for manually noting plant health, and a sensor for the next expected watering date. A global sensor counts how many plants need watering today or are overdue. Installation is done through HACS as a custom repository. The project also offers an optional companion dashboard card called simple-plant-card. The integration is based on the integration_blueprint template and is suitable for users who want a lightweight, self-contained plant care tracker in Home Assistant.
