App Manager is a full-featured package manager and viewer for Android, released as copylefted libre software under GPLv3+ and distributed via F-Droid. It presents a Material 3 interface with dynamic colours and aims to surface as much information as possible on its main page. Core inspection capabilities include listing an app's activities, broadcast receivers, services, providers, app ops, permissions, signatures and shared libraries; launching activities and services; creating activity shortcuts; intercepting activities; viewing or saving an app manifest; scanning for trackers and libraries and listing tracking classes with code dumps; and tracking foreground UI components. It also displays app usage, mobile and Wi-Fi data usage, and storage information when Usage Access is granted. Package handling covers installing and uninstalling APK files, including APKS, APKM and XAPK with OBB files, sharing and backing up/restoring APKs, batch and single-click operations, signing APKs with custom signatures before installation, and backup encryption using OpenPGP via OpenKeychain, RSA, ECC hybrid encryption with AES, or AES. Additional tools include a logcat viewer/manager/exporter, profiles, a debloater, a code editor, a file manager, and a simple terminal emulator. Apps can be opened in Aurora Store or an F-Droid client. With root or ADB access, users can revoke runtime and development permissions, change app op modes, view, kill or force-stop running apps and processes, clear app data or cache, view or change net policy, control battery optimization, and freeze or unfreeze apps. Root-only features add blocking of activities, broadcast receivers, services and providers with native import/export plus Watt and Blocker import support; viewing, editing or deleting shared preferences; backing up and restoring apps with data, rules and extras such as permissions, battery optimization and SSAID; viewing system configurations including blacklisted or whitelisted apps and permissions; and viewing or changing SSAID. The README also lists planned features such as a finder for app components and permissions across all apps, basic APK editing, routine operations, enabling or disabling app actions like launch on boot, a crash monitor, systemless disabling or uninstalling of system apps, importing app lists exported by App Manager, a more advanced terminal emulator, and a database viewer and editor. Translations are coordinated on Hosted Weblate for both app strings and documentation. Mirrors are hosted on Codeberg, GitLab, Riseup and sourcehut. Build and contribution guidance is provided in BUILDING.rst and CONTRIBUTING.rst. As of September 2024 the project states it is not accepting financial support, and the maintainers explicitly disclaim any tokens, cryptocurrencies, NFTs or other financial instruments claiming to represent the project.
