yaak

Yaak is an offline-first desktop API client designed to organize and execute requests across REST, GraphQL, WebSocket, Server-Sent Events, and gRPC. Built with Tauri, Rust, and React, it emphasizes speed, a lightweight footprint, and privacy with no telemetry or cloud lock-in. Key capabilities include importing collections from Postman, Insomnia, OpenAPI, Swagger, or Curl; filtering and inspecting responses with JSONPath or XPath; and authenticating via OAuth 2.0, JWT, Basic Auth, or custom plugins. Sensitive values can be stored as encrypted secrets or in the operating system keychain. Workspaces and nested folders help organize requests, while environment variables support switching between dev, staging, and production. Workspaces can be mirrored to the filesystem for Git versioning or syncing with tools like Dropbox. Template tags allow dynamic values such as UUIDs or timestamps, and users can choose built-in themes, create custom themes, or build plugins that extend authentication, template tags, or the UI. The source code is MIT licensed and can be built and run for free for personal and commercial use. Prebuilt binaries are free for personal use but require a license for commercial use. Community contributions are currently limited to bug fixes unless explicitly approved through the project's feedback process.
