About this project
Belay provides a private connection between a host computer (macOS or Windows) and a client (iPhone via Expo/React Native or a desktop Electron app). It enables remote screen streaming, native input injection (tap, drag, scroll, keyboard), and interactive terminal access.
Key capabilities include:
- Remote Control: Live screen streaming via JPEG over WebSockets and full keyboard/mouse input.
- System Management: A file browser for reading text files and live system statistics (CPU, memory, disk, battery).
- AI Integration: An 'Agent tab' specifically designed to supervise and drive Claude Code sessions on the PC, allowing users to prompt and approve actions from their phone.
- Advanced Display Options: Support for virtual monitors and 'seamless windows' (displaying host apps as individual windows on the client desktop).
- Connectivity: Works over LAN or Tailscale for encrypted, remote access without port forwarding.
- Security: Implements 6-digit pairing codes, bearer tokens, and a read-only file API restricted to specific roots to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive credentials.
