About this project

Ripes is a visual computer architecture simulator and assembly code editor designed for the RISC-V instruction set architecture (RV32IMC/RV64IMC). It allows users to explore core concepts of computer architecture, including how machine code is executed on various microarchitectures, how different cache designs influence performance, how C and assembly code compile into executable machine code, and how processors interact with memory-mapped I/O. Key features: - Visual simulator for RISC-V processors - Assembly code editor - Multiple microarchitecture configurations - Cache design exploration - In-browser version available via WebAssembly - Prebuilt binaries for Linux (AppImage), Windows, and macOS Usage: Ripes can be used as an educational tool for computer architecture courses. A tutorial is included. Prebuilt releases are available from the GitHub Releases page. Building requires Qt 6.5.0+ (with Qt Charts), CMake, and libegl1-mesa-dev on Linux. The project is cloned recursively and built as a standard CMake project. An experimental browser version is hosted at https://ripes.dk/.
