About this project

Pegasus Frontend is a free and open-source graphical application for browsing game libraries and launching a wide range of emulators from a single interface. It emphasizes deep UI customizability, broad platform support, and high performance. The software runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and ARM-based single-board computers including Raspberry Pi and Odroid models. It operates with or without X11 and supports hardware acceleration. Pegasus is compatible with EmulationStation's gamelist files, allowing users to leverage existing library data without reconfiguration. Key capabilities include: - Full UI theming: themes can alter every visual element, add or remove screens, control animations, and even execute custom shader code. The appearance can be tailored to resemble popular launchers such as Kodi or Steam. - Gamepad support: native controller input and configuration via Qt Gamepad or SDL2. - Multi-aspect ratio display support. - Portable mode operation. - Live theme reloading without restarting the application. - An optional on-screen clock. The project is licensed under GPLv3. Build requirements include a C++11-compatible compiler, Qt 5.15.0 or later (with QML, Multimedia, SVG, and SQL modules), and either SDL 2.0.4+ or Qt Gamepad. The source tree uses Git submodules. Official documentation, download links, and community channels are available at pegasus-frontend.org and the associated Discord server.
