About this project

WinUI is a user interface layer that provides modern controls and styles for building Windows apps. The current generation, WinUI 3, is part of the Windows App SDK, enabling developers to create apps using .NET with C# or C++ that run on x86, x64, and ARM architectures. It embodies Fluent Design to deliver intuitive, accessible, and powerful experiences optimized for modern hardware. WinUI powers key Windows experiences and is used by millions daily. The repository includes documentation, getting started guides, migration paths from UWP, and links to the WinUI 3 Gallery for interactive samples. It also hosts the WinUI Community Call on YouTube and outlines contribution guidelines, though code contributions are not yet accepted. The project collects usage data for Microsoft to improve products, but no data is collected from private builds. It follows the Microsoft Open Source Code of Conduct. For UWP apps, WinUI 2 is available as a separate library.
